Code Of Ethics

Code Of ethics

At Bella Blue French Factory, we follow a strict code of ethics. These terms is what makes us stand out from other breeders. We hope this contract helps you while you look for the right puppy for your family.

When you pick up your puppy you will receive a packet with all of his/her paperwork. Inside the packet you will find our Health Guarantee/Sales Contract, Immunization Record, AKC paperwork, Veterinary Examination. The remainder of the sales contract lists other pertinent details such as names, addresses, and contact numbers of sellers and buyer(s); immunization and health record; payment record; signatures and dates; etc.

1. All of our breeding French Bulldogs have Full AKC Registration and all of the puppies from their litters are eligible for Full AKC Registration. We will provide you, the buyer, with all of the proper paperwork at the time of sale in order to obtain registration, but it is up to you to submit the paperwork to the AKC and pay the appropriate registration fees.  A French Bulldog puppy being sold with Limited AKC Registration is being purchased as a pet and you are agreeing to have your puppy spayed or neutered at approximately 6 months of age.

NOTE: Pyometra is an infection of the uterus that occurs in unspayed dogs, usually a few weeks to a few months after a heat cycle. ... In the U.S., we encourage spaying French Bulldogs early to prevent unwanted pregnancies and mammarycancer. Pyometra is another important reason to spay your pet.

2. We only breed healthy males and females with no known significant health issues. As a result, our puppies have had excellent overall health. While there is no such thing as a perfect puppy, just as there are no perfect humans, you are adopting a high quality French Bulldog puppy and you should expect a puppy of good overall health who will have a happy and active life of a decade or more if you do your part in assuring his/her proper care and maintenance. For this guarantee to be valid, you must have your puppy vet checked within 3 days from the date you take possession and we ask that the results be communicated/send to us. This is important to confirm the overall health of your puppy at the time of delivery, to insure a proper relationship with a qualified vet, and to get the 3rd DAPP injection and parvovirus vaccine for his/her protection against common dog/pet diseases. Your puppy will come with the first two of four necessary DAPP injections, so your puppy should be away kept from places frequented by other dogs/pets until at least the 3rd injection to insure that he/she is fully immunized and will not catch any serious diseases if he/she should be exposed to one or more. We release all puppies after 8 weeks to prevent and decrease the risk of diseases and viruses. If you require and/or request to pick your puppy up prior to 8 weeks, this guarantee is invalid.

All of the puppies that we place are examined by our vet and are believed to be free of life threatening or severely debilitating defects or illnesses. However, for your protection your puppy will have a one year guarantee from the date of sale against any congenital illness/defect or any disorder found to be genetic that causes its death or severe debilitation. A vet’s examination, at your expense, must confirm the illness or defect. Once done, you will return your puppy to us at your expense and we will replace this puppy with a puppy of equal quality, at our discretion, when one becomes available.  As an alternative, upon mutual agreement, we may provide cash assistance in lieu of a replacement puppy if medical intervention is necessary, although if you want our participation NO expensive medical treatment should be undertaken prior to communicating with us so that we can discuss various alternatives, one of which would be having our vet perform the procedure.

If your puppy dies during the one year guarantee period, and you believe it is the result of a defect or illness covered under this guarantee, you will pay for a necropsy (autopsy) to ascertain the precise reason for the death.  Upon determination of a genetic or congenital disorder or defect, your puppy will be replaced with a puppy of equal quality, at our discretion,  when we have one available.  You are responsible for all shipping costs related to the replacement puppy.  As an alternative, upon mutual agreement, in some cases a purchase price refund may be given instead of a replacement puppy.

3. Any minor health issue(s) or defect(s) found during our vet’s examination of the puppy you have selected will be disclosed to you. If there are minor issues, you will have the options of passing on this puppy and waiting for another litter, of having your deposit refunded, or of accepting this puppy with the known issue(s). In some cases, such as small umbilical hernias, undescended testicles, etc., we may adjust the purchase price to help pay for corrective surgery/treatment. If your vet finds any health issues during the initial visit which our vet has missed, they should be communicated to us immediately (within 3 days) and we will work out a fair price adjustment resolution with you. The French Bulldog is a brachycephalic (sort-faced) breed, and, like all dogs in this category, all Frenchies have some degree of brachycephalic syndrome characterized by narrow nostrils and somewhat elongated palates. This is what is responsible for the endearing noises made by the Frenchie (noisy breathing, snorting, and snoring) and their inability to deal as effectively with excessive heat, exertion, and stress as longer nosed breeds. In most cases, the symptoms are mild and, if caution is taken (to include smaller and more frequent meals if they gulp their food), they will live long and healthy lives.

4. We are proactive in the health care of all of our French Bulldogs. Each has received up to date immunizations and preventive treatments for worms, giardia, and coccidia. However, all puppies are considered high risk for coccidia and giardia and other intestinal bacteria and parasites, and preventive treatment is no guarantee that none of these issues will appear. These are often brought on by the stress of shipping, a new home and environment, a diet change, new people and playmates, a change in climate, etc. These health issues are not generally serious (even when some blood &or mucus shows up in the stool) and are easily treated, and this guarantee does not cover the cost of treatment for any of these conditions.

5. This warranty does not cover injuries, illnesses, or debilitating disorders that result from accidents, neglect, or improper care, including injuries sustained from a jump or fall from an excessive height or from excessive exertion or stress, especially in hot weather. Nor, does this warranty cover common french bulldog breed issues, such as; skin allergies, ect...You, the owner, agree to provide quality food, adequate shelter (the French Bulldog is primarily an inside dog and does not tolerate excessive heat or cold), regular vet checks, and age appropriate vaccinations and dewormings (including heart worm medication) and other medication as determined by a qualified vet. Failure to provide proper care for your French Bulldog will void this warranty. Frenchies generally do not swim and do not tolerate exertion, heated temperture and stress as well as non-brachycephalic breeds.

6. Only puppies which are sold with full AKC registration are intended for breeding or show. There is no guarantee on show potential when your puppy matures, regardless of show potential at the time of purchase, and there is no size guarantee for a French Bulldog puppy when it reaches maturity, although an estimated weight range can be provided based on past data and family history. If you have purchased full AKC registration in order to breed, and your French Bulldog is determined to be sterile based on repeated unsuccessful matings and certification by a qualified vet, and your vet subsequently neuters or spays your dog, we will make an adjustment on the price you paid to reflect a limited registration price rather than a full registration price within 2 years of purchase.

7. We want each of our valued clients to personally meet his/her/their new puppy before taking formal possession (normally at about 8 weeks of age). If you live close enough to us in Texas to personally meet your new puppy before taking him/her home, we strongly encourage you to do so. If not, we will personally hand deliver your puppy to you at your nearest major airport. If, after meeting your new puppy, you are not completely satisfied and you believe that we have in any way misrepresented him/her, you can refuse to take possession and we will refund everything you have paid, excluding the shipping charge which goes directly to transportation and deposi

Puppy needs

Things you may want to have ready and waiting!

Food - We start our puppies eating Fromm Gold Puppy Food. You should have a bag to keep your puppy on a consistent diet. This will make their transition easier and will be less stressful  on their digestive tract; and prevent or reduce diarrhea which is common when puppies change homes. Frenchies can have very sensitive digestive systems so a consistent  diet is strongly recommended. If you plan to change your puppy's food or diet, you may consider food with a smaller kibble size;  and using probiotics such as Purina FortiFlora Probiotic Dog Supplement to help keep your puppies stomach settled through the transition. Probiotics are also useful in keeping your puppies digestive system stable during environment changes.

A Crate - A crate that is well ventilated and one with a divider that can be adjusted as your puppy grows is a very good choice!  Preferably a wire sided type not the enclosed plastic or mesh type. Crate training is highly recommended for several reasons. First, this is most common way to house break you puppy. It also provides them with their own personal space and area much like a wolf with a den.  Most dogs will grow to love their crate as an adult, if it is safe and positive experience as a puppy.

Safe Chew Toys - Some examples of good choices for Frenchies are Kongs,Wubbas, Tire Track Tire (with or without the attached rope), Hollee Roller Balls, and Sphericon Rubber Toy, Nyla Bones and Gumma Bones, Rope Toys. Any stuffed type toys with squeakers, etc. should be used only for supervised interactive play and always put up and away when your puppy is not directly supervised, as the stuffing and small parts can be easily ripped off and swallowed, or even choked on.  Frenchies like other short faced (i.e.. Bracheocephalic) breeds can easily choke on small items, avoid toys with small pieces and parts.  You should never give your Frenchie RAWHIDES of any type. Rawhides can and have been fatal.

A good safe leash and collar - For actual walking, we use a harness to support their conformation, neck, and chest.

Puppy Pads -  We introduce our puppies to dog pads to start and help with the housebreaking process.  as you move the placement of the pads from the crate, then to the door and eventually just outside the door until your puppy has made the connection.

Food & Water bowls - Stainless steel is always a safe choice as it won't break or chip if chewed and do not cause allergic reactions and possible chin acne that the plastic bowls can cause.

Dog Gates - We use small doorway or stairway gates to block off certain rooms or dangerous areas such as stair cases. You may consider restricting the puppy to safe and protected areas of your home to avoid inevitable "accidents".

Dog Bed/Dog Bedding - 2 beds or sets of bedding are good for rotating, as one can be washing while other is in use. We use a combination of flannel blankets, padded beds, and towels.

Holding and Handling -French Bulldog puppies use their hind legs to leap and jump! Place 1 or 2 fingers between the chest area, while hold them in the palm of your hand is a safety precaution. Be cautious when placing a puppy on couch, tables, and/or counter, they a prone to jump and possibly injure themselves.

 "NO! - NO'S!”

Raw Hides

Cooked real bones of any kind, as these can splinter and break into small fragments that can damage the digestive tract over time or pose a choking hazard.

Chewy rubbery edible treats such as Sausages, Beggin Strips, etc...

Thin latex rubbery toys as they can easily chew these into pieces that can be swallowed (the squeakers inside swallowed as well).

Always supervise your Frenchie near water. French Bulldogs can not swin for long periods of time. They can  tread water but only for a brief time. If you want your Frenchie to play in water, use a baby play pools with 2-4 inches of water.

Like all brachycephalic dog breeds, French Bulldogs have difficulty breathing during hot and humid weather. They can easily "overheat" and are susceptible to  heat exhaustion due to their thick undercoat. Make sure not to take your Frenchie on a long, extensive hikes. They prefer short brisk walks.

Locate a Vet that specilizes in French Bulldog care. Some vets may simply just not know that brachycephalic breeds (flat faced breeds) have special needs and there are certain medications that should not be administered to French Bulldogs.
